Visiting the south-west region is often at the top of the list for many international tourists to Western Australia, and for a good reason too! It is stunning!
The region has abundant things to see, do, taste, smell and experience.
From Perth to Busselton, Margaret River and Yallingup, the area is full of ‘must-see’ tourist attractions.

The problem that most tourists to Western Australia find is that Margaret River and its surrounding towns are a long way from Perth.
Moreover, the only choice that they have had, until now, are large coach or bus tours filled with dozens of other people and set itineraries.
The beauty of hiring a private charter vehicle to see the sights of Perth, Fremantle, and of course the southwest, is that you can do things at your own pace. Our tours are all able to be customised to match our client’s desires.
While this is a fairly comprehensive tour itinerary, it is by no means fixed. So if you wanted to change something, we are more than happy to consult with you and make changes.

Busselton Jetty
Take a leisurely stroll along the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere, or when it is operating, there is a small train that can take you to the end. If you can make the 1.84km out to the end of the jetty, you can descend 8 metres into the Underwater Observatory where you can see marine life in their natural habitat.
Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse
Our first stop is at the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, which is perched on one of the most Westerly points of the Australian mainland. Take the chance to stretch your legs, and grab a cup of coffee/tea, before you go on one of the half-hourly guided tours of the lighthouse. On the tour you will be provided with and insight into the functioning of the working lighthouse, and a brief history of the maritime activity in the region. At the right time of year, it is also possible to see humpback whales breaching in the Indian Ocean from the observation deck at the base of the lighthouse.
Ngilgi Cave
Explore just one of the thousands of limestone caves in the area, as you embark on a semi-guided tour of stalactites and stalagmites is this underground labyrinth. The caves are well lit and reasonably easy to navigate for all ages. There are a lot of stairs, but you are free to move at your own pace and our guides be there to assist you if needed.
Amelia Park Wines
We stop off at the stunning Amelia Park Wines for lunch in the Amelia Park Restaurant. Overlooking the expansive vineyard, you can sample the delicious menu created by award-winning Chef, Blair Allen, using mostly local produce.
Vasse Felix Wines
One of the more popular, and touted as the oldest, vineyards in the Margaret River Wine Region is Vasse Felix. Between 3pm – 4.30pm, step behind the scenes and take a look at the winemaking process with a guided tour of the winery, culminating in a Private Tasting of the Vasse Felix wine collection accompanied with a small selection of nibbles. This is an experience not to be missed.
Surfer’s Point Prevelly
Get your feet sandy and smell the sea air at Margaret River’s best surf beach made famous by the world-class surfing event, the Margaret River Pro. Surfer’s Point is the best surf break in the Margaret River region and is the main reason, apart from the world-famous wines, that Margaret River is such a popular international tourist destination.
Margaret River Townsite
Take a stroll down the Bussell Highway, the main road through the Margaret River townsite, and absorb the ambience of the small country town. You can take some time to do some shopping, buy souvenirs if you wish, and then jump back into the car for the drive back to Perth.
Caves Road
Most of our driving in the south-west will take place on the stunning Caves Road, in the section between Yallingup and Margaret River. Stretching along a 111km scenic route, Caves Road is the main road connecting Busselton to Augusta in the south-west of Western Australia. It is the quieter, and more spectacular, alternative route to the more recently built Bussell Highway. Caves Road is named due to its location, and its access to some of the thousands of underground limestone caves in the area. It is because of this, and its stunning scenery, that it is considered a tourist route. The winding road is narrow and lined on both sides by centuries-old Karri Forrest, and with the sunlight shining at different angles, it makes for some fantastic photos.
History of Margaret River
Margaret River, located 277 kilometres (172 mi) south of Perth in Western Australia, is a coastal town best known for its world-class wines, fresh produce and surfing. While, in the earlier days, the region was best known for its timber industry.
While the name of this popular tourist town would suggest that it is located at the mouth of the Margaret River, the townsite itself is situated 9 km inland from the Indian Ocean
The town is thought to have been named in 1831 after a lady by the name of Margaret Whicher, who was the cousin of John Bussell, the founder of Busselton (another town slightly north of Margaret River).
