Today the #allurecrew were back out in the Swan Valley in #allure03 but today was a little bit different.
We were celebrating Matt’s birthday and we did it true Allure style by visiting one of our regular Swan Valley Wine Tour stops.
We had one of the most delicious meals I’ve eaten at Sandalford Wines. I’m not one to take photos of my food but the meals we had today, certainly warranted photographing.
Matt started with the 48 hour Sous Vide Beef Brisket which was mouth watering (I may have made him share it with me...) it simply fell apart in your mouth and I regretted immediately not getting my own.
He followed this with the Linley Valley Pork Valley which was equally delightful. I’m a huge pork belly fan but have found that I avoid ordering it now because too often I’m disappointed. Well, this pork belly came out and I had huge food envy. It was perfection. Thankfully Matt shared some with me so I didn’t miss out. The meat was moist and tender and the skin was crackled and seasoned perfectly. The braised red cabbage went beautifully with the pork and rounded out the dish nicely.
He finished his meal with the espresso creme brûlée which was creamy and a prefect way to round out the meal.
I skipped entree and ordered the “Prendiville Signature Dish” which is a duck leg confit with truffle sottocenere and Geraldton sweetcorn risotto. OMG!! This was THE best risotto I’ve eaten and it was such a large serve, that I wasn’t able to finish it. The duck was cooked to perfection but the hero for me was definitely the risotto. I could have kept eating, not because I was hungry, simply because it was that good I didn’t want to stop!
I had the sticky date and apple pudding for dessert which again, was mouth watering. The vanilla ice cream was sublime and that along with the Sandalera Anglaise were the perfect accompaniment to the pudding.
We enjoyed a couple of glasses of the Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Chardonnay and Late Harvest over our lunch which was served close to the cracklings wood fire. It was magic given the wet weather we’ve had this week.
The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and very welcoming. Thanks Kelly, Anna and Johnny. Your service was excellent!
We were pleased to hear that not only does Sandalford have an outstanding restaurant and cellar door, but you can also be a “wine maker for a day”. Watch this space as I find out more about this amazing offer.
Thank you to ALL the staff (especially the talented chefs) that made Matt’s birthday lunch a memorable experience and one that we look forward to repeating.
If you haven’t eaten at Sandalford before, do yourself a favour and book in now! You won’t be disappointed.
Ps: please feel free to send some birthday wishes to Matt below. ... See MoreSee Less
